    Hi,
I saw this mod in the internet and i really wanted to create 360 degrees video.
I manage to record with this mod.
    I have only one problem,
How do i render it to a 360 degrees video that can be uploaded to youtube?
I don't want to create camera path, I want to let the viewer decide from where he is viewing.
    Example of working video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtBehojUotQ
    Thanks in advance,
    Orma

    Hello Orma,

To export 360 degree videos, you need to select "Equirectangular Rendering" from the "Rendering Method" dropdown in the Render Settings. I recommend a video resolution of 4320*2160 for good quality results.

After editing the video, maybe adding some music using a video editor like Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas, you need to inject some Metadata into the rendered video so YouTube recognises it as a 360 degree video.

    For more information, read here.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the fast response,
    Hi have one more question.
When I try to render the video it gives an error message: you need to install FFMPEG.
I downloaded the program and I have no idea how to install it,
    do you know how?
    Thanks in advance,
    Orma
edit: my screen is 1920x1080 is there a point to render it in 4k?

A detailed installation tutorial for FFMPEG is in the Replay Mod Documentation - you should read it anyway before working with the mod.

There definitely is a point in rendering 360 degree videos in 4k, but that's a different story. Let me just tell you that 1080p 360° videos have a horrible quality when viewed in a 360 degree video player.

The software is safe to use. If you are unsure, first google what FFMPEG is. It should put your mind at ease.

I wouldn't use software which contains viruses for an essential part of a program I'm creating.

    More than likely :)
They have put so much time and effort into the mod, I doubt they would just stop at 1.8.

Remember that you will still need to inject the metadata into the video file. You will need to refer to the documentation to help you with that :) Good luck.

Oh and another thing, you will need to still have keyframes etc etc . You mentioned that you want your viewers to decide "where" they are viewing from. Do you mean you want them to be able to move the camera to another position? If so, that's not how 360 videos work. The only thing your viewers will be able to control is the direction that camera looks. You will still need to set a path for the camera to follow.

the camera doesn't go after the player?
If I will capture something that will need a camera path I will create one.
By the way I know that they can only change the direction,
what I meant was that I want to let them decide from what direction to watch

rendering 15 seconds in 4k taking me 15 minutes (that's a lot of time)

In the current version no, the camera doesn't follow the player automatically unless you set spectator keyframes, which means you will be viewing from the players point of view :)

There is however a third person mode coming in a future version that automatically follows the player around according to predefined parameters. I don't know when that would be released though.

I tried to upload a 360 degrees video,
but for some reason youtube don't recognize this video as a 360 degrees video.
    What can I do?
    Thanks in advance,
    Orma
    edit:
there is also just one frame for all the video time.
its like the video is frozen

First and foremost make sure you have read this Documentation to make sure you have rendered with the correct aspect ratio etc.

Once you have made sure you have done that correctly, refer to this How to inject metadata if you do not inject the metadata into the video file YouTube will not recognize the file as a 360 file.

Note: You can use this tool to inject the metadata. Just follow the instructions on the above google link and once all is done you should be fine to upload the file to YouTube.

    Spoiler: Quote

While I understand that you don't want to spend a lot of time rendering a video file, and possible less time uploading to YouTube, you may not like the results if you don't use a higher resolution. It's up to you though :)

    I did 2:1 aspect ratio: 4320x2160
    and I injected the metadata.
    I don't know why it's not working.
maybe i should mark something when i upload the video?
note: the video looks like it was in a weird aspect ratio.

You obviously don't understand the way 360° videos work.
There's something called Equirectangular Projection, look it up if you're interested.

Other than that, you may try using the Python script if the tool didn't work for you. It's lower on the same information page.

I used the tool that Remnant told me to use.
    I can't understand what I did wrong.
I used the same Equirectangular Rendering you told me to use.
I also Used 2:1 aspect ratio as Remnant told me.
    What do I did wrong?

Try the python script instead then.
There is a "download zip" button on that page.
Again, does the video play on your computer just fine? Or does it not even work there?

maybe it is because the new video player let me check.
edit: in windows media classic it is shown the same as it looks like in youtube.
it is not 360 degrees it looks like it was recorded at a different aspect ratio (maybe 2:1 like i rendered the video)

You did not properly inject the Metadata if it's not 360° on YouTube.
Windows Media Player will never show it 360°, even if you injected the Metadata.

Please do not bump in these forums.

It occurred rather often that the Metadata Injector Tool didn't work. In this case, use the Python script. You need Python 2.7 to run the script.

It should look a lot better if you render it in 4k :) I am not sure of the specifics though, like what resolution it would appear at, but for ease of reference check out this video made by @User1 to get an idea of what the quality will be like:

    Yes
When I played I flew and destroy some blocks but i can't see it in the final video.
for some reason it looks pretty bad (maybe i should upload in 4k)

Can you upload the replay file please? I would like to take a look. I suspect that you have not placed time/position keyframes correctly (or at all) so if I could get your replay I could check that out for you.

Remember, you still need to place paths. Not doing that will result in a static image which is what we can see in your video.

Without keyframes, essentially the video will not progress.

Please post here and I will take a look at the replay file for you, and if necessary I will put in a test camera path and upload it for you to experiment with.

Oh and as for your Sony Vegas question, I don't use Sony Vegas so I can only talk on assumption, but I don't think it would make any difference, as long as you are rendering the video to a YouTube enabled format etc, then injecting the metadata, it should work the same. Like I said though, I don't use Sony Vegas so perhaps someone who does use this can comment?

Please post some final feedback here once you are done, then I will lock the thread.
