If I turn off Automatic recording, and rejoin a server, It is turned on again.

Chat: Failed to start recording

I can't determine the cause of the recording failure without any logs...

Also, just because it failed to record does not mean that the auto-recording setting is on. Due to the way recordings work, the RM always has to record (otherwise important parts of the replay would be missing). The auto-recording/pause/resume/start/stop feature is really just a facade over the Replay Editor.

after joining a world (server/singleplayer) the automatic recording is turned on again, even if it was turned off before.

I see you split out the settings issue into https://www.replaymod.com/forum/thread/2584#post10782 (actually, your descriptions of those issues don't quite overlap: one's on restart, the other one's on world join, could you please clarify?).
I'll still need the logs for the recording failure.

I'm able to reproduce the config reset on restart and the issue is fairly easy to fix.

I've explained above why the recording failed message has nothing to do with auto-recording.
And, as I've said two times already (and third time will be the last time), I still require the logs to determine why recording fails in the first place.
