I see what you mean, actually. That kind of feature would be like calling it player focus, meaning that as the display remains at your control, you can allow the camera to lock onto the player while following the path. When you think about it, it actually would be a good idea. But instead of it being a mode, I think, it should be a key activated setting, so if you change your mind, or want to focus on making your camera path, you won't need struggle changing back and forth when setting up the path for the camera.
